MERMAID PARADE 2008

The annual Mermaid Parade in New York City's Coney Island. The week had been mild but the sun came out for the 1st day of summer June 21st and just in time to celebrate the traditional ceremony of opening the Atlantic Ocean for the summer. The parade even more conscious of this year because the reconstruction of Coney Island's historic Astroland Park will be next year. It's confusing what will be of the parade for next year but this year thousands come dressed to a mermaids fashion. As always this parade never disappoints.
